WAEC Latest News Today, Sunday, May 17, 2026

WAEC 2026 is still ongoing, and candidates across Nigeria are now getting deeper into the examination period. Since many students have already written some papers, this is the time to stay more careful, check the timetable properly, and prepare early for the next subjects.

Today is Sunday, May 17, 2026, and according to the official WAEC timetable, there is no major WAEC paper scheduled for today. The next papers will continue tomorrow, Monday, May 18, 2026, with Technical Drawing, Music, and Physical Education.

WAEC Papers for Monday, May 18, 2026

Candidates writing tomorrow should take note of the subjects and time carefully.

According to the WAEC 2026 timetable, Technical Drawing 2 Essay will hold from 9:30 am to 11:15 am, while Technical Drawing 1 Objective will hold from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm.

Music 2 Essay will hold from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, while Music 1 Objective will hold from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Physical Education 2 Essay will hold from 2:00 pm to 3:20 pm, while Physical Education 1 Objective will hold from 3:20 pm to 4:10 pm.

Candidates writing any of these subjects should not wait until tomorrow morning before checking their timetable. They should confirm their paper, time, and required materials today.

WAEC Candidates Should Use Today for Serious Revision

Since today is Sunday and there is no major paper listed for today, candidates should use the day wisely. This is not the time to relax completely or spend the whole day on social media.

If you are writing Technical Drawing, revise drawing tools, types of lines, scales, projections, geometrical construction, building drawing, and mechanical drawing. Make sure your drawing materials are ready before tomorrow morning.

If you are writing Music, revise theory of music, notation, scales, intervals, rhythm, Nigerian music, Western music, musical instruments, and common terms used in music.

If you are writing Physical Education, revise physical fitness, athletics, ball games, first aid, safety rules, body systems, personal hygiene, and health-related topics.

Do not read everything at once without direction. Focus on areas that are likely to appear and practise how to answer questions clearly.

WAEC Has Warned Candidates Against Malpractice

Another important WAEC update candidates must remember is the warning against examination malpractice. WAEC has said it is using stronger measures to protect the examination and stop cheating. The council also warned candidates, schools, and supervisors against malpractice during the ongoing 2026 WASSCE.

Candidates should avoid carrying phones, written papers, textbooks, or any banned materials into the exam hall. Even if you do not plan to use them, having them with you can put your result at risk.

Do not join any fake expo group. Do not pay anybody claiming to have live WAEC answers. Many of those groups are fake, and some can even push candidates into trouble.

Over 1.9 Million Candidates Are Writing WAEC 2026

WAEC earlier announced that 1,959,636 candidates from 24,207 schools are taking part in the ongoing 2026 Computer-Based WASSCE for school candidates. The exam is expected to run for over eight weeks and end on June 19, 2026.

This means many students across Nigeria are writing at the same time, so candidates must stay focused and avoid unnecessary pressure. Do not allow what other students are saying to confuse you. Follow your timetable, prepare well, and obey exam instructions.

Female Candidates Are More Than Male Candidates This Year

WAEC also disclosed that female candidates are slightly more than male candidates in the 2026 WASSCE. According to the report, 1,001,072 candidates are female, while 958,564 candidates are male.

This shows that the number of girls participating in WAEC this year is very high. All candidates, both male and female, should take the exam seriously because every paper can affect the final result.

What Candidates Should Do Before Tomorrow’s Paper

Candidates writing tomorrow should prepare their materials today. Do not wait until morning before looking for pencil, ruler, calculator, drawing instruments, pen, eraser, or other needed items.

Check your school uniform and keep it ready. Check your exam number. Check your timetable again. Sleep early if your paper is in the morning.

When you enter the exam hall tomorrow, do not rush. Write your details correctly, read the instructions, and answer the required number of questions.

For objective papers, shade carefully. Do not shade two options for one question. Do not use pen if pencil is required. Check your answer sheet before submitting.

For essay papers, write clearly and number your answers properly. Do not write too short when the question asks you to explain. Give examples where necessary.

Candidates Writing on Tuesday Should Also Start Preparing

WAEC will also continue on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. According to the official timetable, Livestock Farming 2 Essay will hold from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, while Livestock Farming 1 Objective will hold from 11:30 am to 12:10 pm. Technical Drawing 3 will also hold from 2:00 pm to 4:45 pm.

Candidates writing Livestock Farming should revise animal breeds, feeds, diseases, housing, animal products, tools, and management practices.

Candidates writing Technical Drawing 3 should practise sketches, building drawing, and mechanical drawing properly before the paper.

Final Advice for WAEC Candidates Today

Today is a good day to prepare calmly before the new week of exams begins. Do not waste the whole day thinking about the papers you have already written. If you made mistakes in previous papers, learn from them and move on.

WAEC is not over yet. You still have many chances to do better.

Check your timetable, revise your next subject, prepare your materials, and rest well. Avoid fake WAEC answers, avoid malpractice, and do not carry banned materials into the exam hall.

The candidates who will do well are not only those who read hard. They are also those who follow instructions, manage time, write clearly, and stay calm during the exam.
